Retired Correctional Officer Debra “Bogie” Hampton passed away April 8, 2023.
Hampton started her career with the department in June 1997 at the R.A. McGee Correctional Training Center. After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, she reported to North Kern State Prison.
She transferred to the Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison in Corcoran in November 1997. Hampton transferred to the Salinas Valley State Prison (SVSP) in November 2008. She retired from SVSP in August 2021 after 24 years of service.
“She was a great partner to work with and always helpful with new staff,” according to a statement issued by the institution.
Services will remain private.
