The California Institution for Men (CIM) is mourning the loss of retired K-9 Bosco, an 11-year-old Belgian Malinois. Bosco served CDCR for three years in the K-9 Unit, passing away May 16, 2023.

At the time of passing, Bosco was surrounded by his adopted family and partner, retired K-9 Officer M. Diaz.

Bosco joined the CDCR K-9 Team in July 2018, retiring from CIM in November 2021.

The loyal K-9 was credited with countless contraband discoveries throughout his successful career.

Other agencies also grew to depend on K-9 Bosco, requesting his assistance at the local, state and federal levels.

“We hope the memories of K-9 Bosco bring comfort to those who loved him so much. May K-9 Bosco rest in peace. Your impact will never be forgotten,” according to a statement issued by CIM.
