The California Men’s Colony (CMC) staff appreciation barbecue was a success thanks to generous donations from multiple organizations.
Organizations and individuals contributed $13,500 toward the annual barbecue, including:
- Code 4 Charity Foundation (C4CF)
- California Correctional Peace Officers Association
- California Men’s Colony (CMC) Employee Benefit Fund (EBF)
- and CMC staff members.
Held May 24, the feast included nearly 1,000 pounds of Santa Maria-style barbecued tri-tip and thousands of dollars in prizes for CMC staff.
The nearly 70 individual prizes included gift cards, camping gear, earbuds, a television, corn hole game sets and a $500 Costco gift card.
Although the CMC staff appreciation barbecue is an annual event, C4CF co-founder Correctional Sgt. F. Behill wanted it to be more than just another barbecue.
Behill wanted to create a welcoming environment, showcasing the teamwork exhibited every day by CMC’s staff.
“Hosting events that encourage staff participation allows our staff to refocus their energy and refresh their mindsets through socialization and personal interactions that are not possible during a typical workday,” said Behill.
