Art and music therapy are providing healing creative outlets at California State Prison, Sacramento (SAC).

The Enhanced Outpatient Program held their Spring Talent Showcase on May 25, featuring over 40 patients healing through music and art.

The talent show featured visual as well as performing art, uncovering a wealth of hidden abilities and contributions from the SAC incarcerated population.

Special events such as these are one of the many ways CDCR Recreational Therapists make a difference toward rehabilitation. This is when classroom instruction translates into real-life leisure interests.

Ultimately, thanks to the efforts of Recreation Therapists, better overall health and well-being improves the quality of life for the incarcerated.
