During the Palo Verde High School scholarship award night, Ironwood State Prison (ISP) was on hand to present seven scholarships.

In all, ISP awarded $3,500 in scholarships to seven graduating seniors on June 1. The ISP Employees’ Association received 68 scholarship applications. The association put each one through a rigorous screening process, then deliberated, selecting seven who excelled in academics and participated in extracurricular activities. Each of the seven students were awarded a $500 scholarship.

Those attending the awards included Warden Neil McDowell, ISP Employees’ Association President Candelaria Sanchez, Secretary Michelle Cota, and Board Member Gabriella Rascon.

These scholarships were made possible by prison staff who support various employees’ association fundraising events.
