Robert Potteiger, a retired correctional lieutenant, passed away May 15, 2023.
Potteiger passed away at his own in Pueblo, Colorado. He began his career with the department in May 1976, reporting to California Men’s Colony as a correctional officer.
In July 1982, he promoted to correctional sergeant at the Correctional Training Facility.
Four years later, Potteiger promoted to correctional lieutenant. A decade later, in May 1996, transferred to Salinas Valley State Prison.
He remained at the prison for four years, retired in May 2000.
“We extend our condolences to the Potteiger family,” according to a statement issued by Salinas Valley State Prison. “Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.”
