VSP staff supports Law Enforcement Torch Run

Valley State Prison (VSP) staff recently participated in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run to raise awareness for the Special Olympics. VSP staff joined forces with law enforcement agencies in a heartwarming display of community support. Staff ran alongside members from the California Highway Patrol, Madera County Sheriff’s Office, and Madera County Probation Office. In total, VSP staff ran an impressive 4 miles.

The event showcased solidarity and camaraderie among participants. As a reward, participants received breakfast burritos, Starbucks, and a variety of pastries.

VSP staff raised over $24,000 dollars for the cause, showing their commitment to making a positive impact on the community.

VSP collected the donations as follows:

  • Torch Run: $10,400
  • Inmate Fundraising: $11,904
  • Badges with Buckets: $2,300.
