Awards and Appreciation, Beyond the Badge

PBSP hosts Employee Appreciation Day

Pelican Bay State Prison (PBSP) recently celebrated Employee Appreciation Day. The day served as an opportunity to acknowledge the staff’s dedication, professionalism, and hard work. PBSP’s executives, managers, and staff organized the event, feeding approximately 1,400 employees throughout the institution.

Each department within PBSP collaborated to ensure the event ran smooth. All levels of the institution assisted in set up, organizing, preparations, activities, cooking, and serving meals. Sharing the day and with staff created a friendly atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.

Management staff rolled-up their sleeves and fired-up the grills. A second team of supervisors served the carnitas tacos, rice, beans, freshly made salsa, beverages, and other fixings to all PBSP staff.

Along with serving staff lunch, the event featured a piñata, car show, and prizes. Prizes included:

  • gift cards
  • certificates
  • gardening gear
  • custom 20oz cups
  • a custom wooden flag
  • auto cleaning products
  • tools and barbecue set
  • vehicle emergency kits
  • two corn hole game sets
  • and custom badge order.

“The executives, managers, and staff demonstrated the strength and unity of our team. Their willingness to go above and beyond in supporting their fellow staff members is truly inspiring. The staff that work at PBSP are an incredible team and this is one of the best events I’ve seen during my career,” said Warden (A) Stephen Smith.
