High Desert State Prison (HDSP) staff recruiters recently attended the 2023 Reno Rib Cook Off in Nevada. The annual event draws 400,000 people to Reno.
The recruiters engaged with the public and informed them of the career opportunities within the CDCR. Recruiters also discussed the application process, training, and Correctional Officer responsibilities.
Information was also provided about a hiring event in Susanville. Applicants were able to take the written examination, complete Live Scan fingerprinting, and begin the background process all in one day.
The Department’s booth provided an interactive experience for visitors, who were eager to learn more about CDCR job opportunities and promotional paths. HDSP recruiters provided answers and insight into the organization.
By participating at the Rib Cook-Off, the Department received 31 applications for the Correctional Officer position registrations for the hiring event in Susanville.
The event proved to be a unique opportunity for the CDCR to showcase its commitment to the public and assist potential candidates an opportunity to fast track a career with CDCR.
