Message of gratitude from Secretary Macomber

Editor’s note: As the holidays approach, CDCR Secretary Jeff Macomber took a moment to share gratitude with staff on behalf of the CDCR and CCHCS executive teams for all of their hard work. He highlighted those in our institutions who will be working on the holidays, and their families. As 2023 nears its finish, Secretary Macomber and the rest of the leadership team look forward to a promising New Year.

As we approach the end of 2023, and with the holiday season upon us, I want to thank each and every one of you working in our institutions, our parole offices, our headquarter units and other areas within the department for the great work you are doing day in and day out.

As most of you are aware, we are rolling out the California Model. It is an effort to improve on the well-being of staff who are doing a great job day in and day out. It’s also an opportunity to improve the lives of those we are entrusted to care for. We know the California Model will not come without its challenges, its hiccups. We will work through those challenges as they come throughout the 2024 calendar year.

I want to give a special thanks to those folks who will be working on the holidays away from their families. It is not unnoticed by myself and my team, the sacrifices that you make. I look forward to 2024 and continuing to partner with you on these and other efforts. Thank you.

Respectfully,
JEFF MACOMBER
CDCR Secretary
