Awards and Appreciation

SCC staff appreciation day revisits 1980s

Three women wearing neon colors inside SCC.
Institutional Personnel Officer (IPO) Jessica Ambrose, Classification and Parole Representative (C&PR) Amy Heusel and Correctional Counselor II Supervisor Kelly Carter were all about the theme this year, sporting a neon look.

Sierra Conservation Center (SCC) hosted Employee Appreciation Day in early October as a way to thank staff for their ongoing contributions to fulfilling CDCR’s mission.

The event is sponsored by the Administration, the nonprofit Employee and Community Benefit Association (ECBA), and various employee organizations such as:

  • the Correctional Peace Officers Association (CCPOA)
  • California Correctional Supervisors Organization (CCSO)
  • and Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 1000.

Food was cooked on and off-site by members of the management team and provided to staff on all three watches.

Management hosted several activities including a live band, car show, dunk tank, corn hole tournament, 1980s trivia game, a sour challenge presented by ISUDT, as well as bake-off and salsa-off contests.

The food consisted of tri-tip sandwiches, chicken thighs, chili beans, macaroni, side salad and various desserts and beverages. Staff ate, conversed, laughed and enjoyed a day dedicated to them taking it back to the 1980s.
