Rick Hostetler, a retired correctional sergeant, passed away Dec. 1, 2023.
He began his career with the department as a cadet at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center in February 1987. After graduating from the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, he reported for duty to California Medical Facility.
In November 1992, he transferred to Chuckawalla Valley State Prison. He promoted to sergeant, transferring to Pleasant Valley State Prison in May 1998. He remained at the institution until retiring in December 2014.
“Rick will be greatly missed by all who worked with him. Please keep the Hostetler family in your thoughts and prayers,” according to a statement issued by the institution.
