Retired Chief Nurse Executive Sharon Leasure-Brown passed away Dec. 11, 2023. She worked for the department from 2008 until retiring in 2023.
She began her career with CDCR in March 2008 as a nurse instructor at California State Prison, Solano.
In 2012, she promoted to Supervising Registered Nurse III. At California Medical Facility (CMF), she was appointed as acting Chief Nurse Executive (CNE) in July 2017 and became permanent in May 2019.
She remained at the facility until retiring in February 2023.
“Sharon was highly respected by her peers and a well-loved member of the CMF family. Our deepest condolences are extended to Sharon’s family and friends as they mourn the loss of their loved one. Sharon will be greatly missed,” according to a statement issued by the institution.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024, at 10 a.m., St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 350 Stinson Ave., Vacaville.
