Shannon Duncan, a retired correctional captain from Kern Valley State Prison, passed away March 25, 2024.
He started his career with the Department in November 1994 as a cadet. After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, he reported to Pleasant Valley State Prison in December.
Duncan transferred to Wasco State Prison in October 1999. In March 2006, he then transferred to Kern Valley State Prison where he rose through the ranks to Captain. He remained at Kern Valley until retiring in June 2020.
