Guillermo Giron, a retired correctional officer, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024. He was 64 years old.

Giron began his career with the department as a cadet at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center in January 2000.
After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy in March 2000, he reported for duty to the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility. He remained at the institution until retiring in May 2013.
“We extend our most sincere condolences to Officer Giron’s family. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” according to a statement issued by the institution.
Visitation will be held May 18 from 5 to 9 p.m. and on May 19 from 3 to 9 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Chula Vista at 753 Broadway in Chula Vista. A funeral Mass will be held May 21 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the External Service Location, 2643 Homedale St., San Diego.
