Duane Nix, a retired San Quentin correctional lieutenant, passed away May 11, 2024.
Nix began his career with the department in July 1974, promoting to sergeant in January 1981. By May 1986, he promoted to lieutenant.
Nix retired in June 2000 but worked as a retired annuitant from 2001 to 2003.
“Duane will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. The family wishes to have private services at this time,” according to a statement issued by the institution.
