Leticia Tellez, a retired correctional officer, passed away June 10, 2024.

She began her career with the department in June 1996 at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center. After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, she reported for duty to North Kern State Prison. She retired in November 2022.
“She was a respected partner and a caring friend to many. Her nurturing and selfless personality made a significant impact to those she encountered during her time at North Kern,” according to a statement issued by the institution. “At this time of mourning, please keep the Tellez family, friends, and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.”
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 2739 Panama Lane, in Bakersfield. Following the graveside services, there will be a reception at The Eagles, 1718 17th Street, Bakersfield.
