California Health Care Facility (CHCF) visiting hosted the first Donuts with Dads for the incarcerated population and their loved ones.

This inclusive gathering welcomed fathers as well as uncles, brothers, children, and parents, creating a joyous Father’s Day atmosphere.

The event was a collaborative effort, with generous donations from CHCF’s Community Resource Office, local churches, and visiting families. This event highlighted the power of community support and unity.

The Plant Operations paint shop decorated the visiting room with colorful murals, one of them featuring Homer Simpson, the iconic animated dad known for his love of donuts.

As families arrived, they were greeted by the aroma of fresh baked donuts, laid out on elongated tables. Donuts ranged from classic glazed to those more creatively decorated. The tables quickly became the center attraction.

Children chose their favorites, while adults reminisced about their own childhood favorites. Multiple generations came together over the simple donut.

Donuts with Dads brought smiles and laughs with many expressing gratitude for such a well-organized event. The gathering celebrated the essence of family while fostering community spirit. This event also served as a reminder of the important role families plays in all of our lives.

“I have never witnessed anything like this,” said incarcerated person J. Hughes. “This is amazing, thank you.”
