CDCR was informed July 2, 2024, of the passing of Robert Lockwood, a retired correctional business manager II.

He began his career with department in March 1982 as a masonry vocational instructor at the Correctional Training Facility (CTF) in Soledad.
He took on more responsibility, promoting through various roles, becoming supervisor of building trades in January 1987. By October 1987, he promoted to chief of plant operations.
He promoted again in May 1993 to correctional plant supervisor. He ultimately rose to the position of correctional business manager II, a role he held until his retirement in December 2004.
“Robert was a cornerstone of the CTF community. (He was) cherished for his dedication, leadership, and the deep respect he commanded from peers, subordinates, supervisors, and managers alike. His legacy will forever remain in our hearts,” according to a statement issued by the institution. “His presence will be sorely missed by everyone who had the privilege to know and work alongside him.”
Funeral services will take place July 11 at 11 a.m. at King City Cemetery. Following the services, a celebration of life will be held at the Pavilion Building of the King City Fairgrounds.
