Parole Agent Tracy Master said last year 97 percent of people on sex offender supervised release were compliant with their parole conditions on Halloween night.

With Halloween fast approaching, CDCR is helping keep kids and families safe through Operation Boo. Throughout the week, CDCR parole agents will provide safety tips for trick-or-treaters via social media.

Hundreds of parole agents, along with local law enforcement partners, conduct compliance checks on sex offender supervised persons across California. Operation Boo helps ensure those who are prohibited from having contact with minors are following their conditions of parole.

Last year, more than 97 percent of supervised people with special conditions for Halloween night were in compliance.

“Awareness can go a long way in helping keep children and families safe — not just on Halloween, but all the time. CDCR’s Division of Adult Parole Operations (DAPO) is doing our part to keep families and children safe this holiday. You can do your part by talking to your children about personal safety before trick-or-treating,” said DAPO Director Jason Johnson.

DAPO parole agents are partners with their communities throughout the year, ensuring the safety of children and families and working hard to facilitate successful reintegration.

DAPO’s strategy emphasizes education and employment opportunities for supervised persons as well as mental health resources, which has a positive impact on recidivism rates and helps them avoid reoffending and reentering institutions.
