Parole, law enforcement agencies lead Operation Shasta Shield

Operation Shasta Shield with a parole agent and a parole supervise person about to be transported to jail, Nov. 14, 2025.

Division of Adult Parole Operations (DAPO) parole agents from the Community Compliance Unit, alongside agents with the Sierra Parole district and other parole agents, collaborated with law enforcement agencies in Shasta County for a compliance and apprehension sweep dubbed Operation Shasta Shield.

The Nov. 14 joint operation yielded 28 compliance contacts at 22 locations resulting in 14 arrests. To support compliance at community-based programs in Shasta County, the operation also included checking the compliance of supervised persons at various programs in the area.

The compliance checks included those under parole supervision required to register as sex offenders. The checks ensure registration requirements are up-to-date and the supervised persons are complying with the law and their parole conditions.

Those found in non-compliance were arrested for drug-related offenses, weapons offenses, and parole violations, including absconding parole supervision.

Those arrested were taken into custody without incident, then transported to the Shasta County Jail.

Of the 14 arrests, seven are on parole supervision for sex offenses.

“Operation Shasta Shield allowed parole agents and our law enforcement partners to cover a larger geographical area in a targeted approach, while sharing resources and building community trust through collaboration,” said DAPO Assistant Deputy Director Mark Cruise. “Ultimately, compliance checks are about ensuring our supervised population are adhering to the law and their parole conditions, so the public is safer and those who are in violation are held accountable for their actions.”

DAPO leadership thanked the following:

  • DAPO Intelligence Unit
  • DAPO Warrants Unit
  • Special agents with the Office of Correctional Safety Fugitive Apprehension Team and Special Service Unit
  • Officers with the Division of Adult Institutions – Crisis Response Team (CRT)
