Michael Means, a retired correctional counselor, passed away Oct. 26, 2024. He worked for CDCR for 18 years.

He began his career with the department in February 1987 as a cadet at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center. After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, he reported to California Correctional Institution at Tehachapi.
He transferred to California State Prison, Corcoran, in November 1988. He promoted to correctional counselor in July 2001. Means remained at CSP-Corcoran until retiring in December 2005.
“Our deepest condolences to the Means family as they mourn the loss of their loved one,” according to a statement issued by the institution.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Nov. 7, at Washington Colony Cemetery District, 7813 S. Elm Ave. in Fresno.
