Steven Goodwin, a retired correctional officer, passed away Oct. 7, 2024.
He began his career with the department in July 2003 as a cadet at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center. After graduating, he reported to California State Prison, Corcoran. He remained at the institution until retiring in June 2016.
“He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather and was also known as a dog lover,” according to a statement issued by the institution. “Steven will be greatly missing by all those who loved him. Our deepest condolences are extended to the Goodwin family as they mourn the loss of their loved one.”
Services for Steven Goodwin will be held at 11 a.m., Nov. 16, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road in Bakersfield.
