Robert Wagner, a retired correctional officer from the Correctional Training Facility at Soledad, passed away Dec. 8, 2024. He worked for the department for 17 years, retiring in 2012.

Wagner began his career with the department as a cadet at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center in January 1995.
After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, he joined the team at the Correctional Training Facility in February 1995. He spent his career at the facility until he retired in September 2012.
“Throughout his career, Officer Wagner was immensely respected by his colleagues for his professionalism and was cherished as a loving and devoted friend and father,” according to the institution. “His presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who were touched by his remarkable life and career.”
Funeral services will be held at noon, Dec. 20, at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Prunedale.
