Miguel Ramos, a retired correctional officer, passed away Jan. 14, 2025. He began his career with the department as a cadet in August 1985.

After graduating, he joined the team at the Correctional Training Facility at Soledad in September 1985. He dedicated 28 years of service at the facility, retiring in 2013.
“Throughout his tenure, he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment, consistently exemplifying the values expected of a correctional officer,” according to the institution. “He earned widespread respect from his colleagues for his professionalism and integrity. As we mourn his loss, we ask all staff to keep Miguel and his family in your thoughts during this difficult time.”
According to his family, “Miguel enjoyed fishing, watching sports, mariachi, and spending time in his garden, growing all sorts of fruits and plants.”
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, four children, and multiple grandchildren. Ramos was 74 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, at Sacred Heart Church, 22 Stone St. in Salinas.
This will be followed by burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott St. in Salinas.
