Staff injured in attack at Pleasant Valley State Prison

On Monday, Feb. 24, 2025, at approximately 10:40 a.m. at Pleasant Valley State Prison (PVSP), a registered nurse was injured when an incarcerated person attacked her during a confidential medical interview. Staff immediately responded.

The nurse was injured and taken to an outside medical facility for evaluation. She reports she is doing OK.

The incarcerated person has been rehoused in the restricted housing unit.

We are grateful for the nurse’s wellbeing. Such acts of violence toward our staff will not be tolerated. We are committed to holding the person responsible accountable and will take all necessary steps.
