Jason Ferrario, a correctional officer with the Statewide Transportation Unit Northern Hub, passed away Feb. 26, 2025.

Officer Ferrario began his career with CDCR as a cadet at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center in Galt in February 2015.
After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, he reported to Deuel Vocational Institution in Tracy in June 2015.
In July 2017, Ferrario transferred to Statewide Transportation Unit (STU) Northern HUB, where he remained until his passing.
“Officer Ferrario was not only a pillar of strength for the STU unit but was also a cherished mentor and friend to many of those who worked around him. His dedication to the well-being of staff was unwavering, leaving an incredible mark on this unit. Officer Ferrario was a great employee, and peer; his dedication to the job, perseverance, and ability to lead were unmatched and was appreciated by all that knew him,” according to a statement issued by the STU.
“He will be greatly missed as his legacy will forever remain in our hearts. We extend our most sincere condolences to the Ferrario family, loved ones and friends. At this profound time of mourning, the Ferrario Family has asked for privacy. Please keep the Ferrario family in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.”
