Alila Dakaj, 25‑year correctional officer

Alila Dakaj, a correctional officer at California Institution for Women (CIW), passed away April 2, 2025. She worked at CIW for 25 years.

She began her career with the department as a cadet at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center in April 2000. After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, she reported to CIW in Chino in August 2000.

“Officer Dakaj will be remembered for her contagious smile and always having a positive outlook on life,” according to a statement issued by CIW. “She was respected by her peers and a well-loved member of the CIW family. Officer Dakaj was a good partner and a good human being. Our deepest condolences are extended to her family and friends during this difficult time.”

The viewing and time of remembrance for Officer Dakaj will be held on Saturday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to noon at The Grove Community Church, 19900 Grove Community Drive, Riverside.
