300 graduate SCBC reentry program

Last year, nearly 300 individuals under community supervision graduated from the Sacramento Community Based Coalition (SCBC) reentry program.

Operated in partnership between CDCR and the Sacramento County Office of Education, SCBC equips participants with essential life skills to support a successful return to the community.

The SCBC reentry program offers a range of services including academic instruction, anger management, employment readiness, and vocational training tailored to each participant’s needs.

“I’m super grateful to be standing here today, having earned my GED, fully employed, and a stable place to live,” said graduate Poasi Linuana. “I never thought my life would make it to this point, but I am here today.”

SCBC staff see the change firsthand.

“What I love about our program is that we see people change, we see people’s lives change,” said Natalya Weltman, SCBC Project Specialist.

The impact of SCBC is deeply personal for graduates like Joshua Boyer.

“It’s sad it’s the ending, but these are tools that I am going to be using for a long time,” he said. “This program has gotten me a lot farther than if I had tried to do it on my own. It’s a milestone—one of the steppingstones that I get to grace on my road to recovery.”
