Missouri Department of Corrections professionals toured Valley State Prison in Chowchilla to learn more about reentry and rehabilitation programs.
They observed and learned from Valley State Prison’s Reentry Unit as well as the Youth Offender Program.
The goal was to experience day-to-day operations at the prison, demonstrating proactive engagement with the incarcerated population. These interactions improve overall outcomes.
The Missouri staff witnessed best practices in action. Now they will be able to draw parallels, identify key takeaways, and consider how similar strategies might be adapted to suit their needs and goals.

The visit served as a foundation for future collaboration and innovation as the Missouri Department of Corrections and Valley State Prison work toward creating a safer, more effective correctional environment.
