Mule Creek State Prison (MCSP) is mourning the passing of Correctional Officer Todd Bennion. The prison reported his passing June 23, 2025.

Officer Bennion began his career with the department in July 2020 as a cadet at the Basic Correctional Officer Academy.
After graduating from the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center, he reported to California State Prison, Sacramento.
In September 2022, Bennion transferred to MCSP where he worked until his passing.
“Officer Bennion touched the lives of many, both as a dedicated colleague and as a friend. He was respected, admired, and loved by his work family. His presence will be greatly missed,” according to the institution. “During this challenging time, please keep Officer Bennion’s family and fellow staff members in your thoughts and prayers.”
Funeral services for Officer Bennion will be held July 12 at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 12924 Ridge Road, Sutter Creek. Additionally, the family would like to invite everyone to a celebration of life following the services at 1 p.m. at Gold Country Lanes, 81 Ridge Road, Sutter Creek.
