Joel Vasquez, a correctional officer at Calipatria State Prison, passed away June 29, 2025. He worked for the department for seven years.
Vasquez began his career with the department as a cadet at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center in 2018.
After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy in August 2018, he reported to Calipatria State Prison. He worked at the institution in various assignments until his passing.
“Calipatria State Prison has lost an outstanding member of its family, and we extend our most sincere condolences to the Vasquez family. Please continue to keep the Vasquez family in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time,” according to the prison.
