A correctional supervising cook at California Institution for Men (CIM) in Chino was injured in an attack by an incarcerated person Sunday, Aug. 10.

The 1:15 p.m. attack on the CIM cook happened while escorting the incarcerated person to the Facility A freezer to retrieve ice for the housing units. Staff immediately quelled the incident.

The cook was transported to an outside medical facility for a higher level of treatment, was later released and is OK.

The incarcerated person was re-housed in the restricted housing unit.
