Welcome to a new school year filled with promise and opportunity.

I want to begin by thanking each of you for the important role you play in our shared mission. Whether you are teaching in the classroom, leading a school, learning as a student, or supporting from the community, your dedication and partnership are what make our progress possible.
Over the past months, I have been listening, learning, and collaborating with many of you to strengthen our work. My vision for the Office of Correctional Education is clear: provide vibrant, evidence-based learning, driven by data, and supported by strong collaboration across all levels. Together, we can ensure that every learner has the tools, skills, and opportunities to succeed.
This year, we are focusing on unifying practices, improving communication, and making sure resources reach the classrooms where they are needed most. We will continue to build on our progress through continuous improvement, strategic partnerships, and a shared commitment to student success.
Thank you for your service, your passion, and your belief in the power of education. I am honored to serve as your superintendent and excited for the work we will accomplish together this year. Let’s move forward united in our purpose—to open doors, change lives, and create brighter futures for all learners.
With gratitude and optimism,
Genevie Candelaria, Superintendent
Office of Correctional Education
