SQRC mourns passing of Officer Robert Cook

Robert Cook, a correctional officer at San Quentin Rehabilitation Center (SQRC), passed away Feb. 3, 2026.

He began his career with the department as a cadet at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center in November 2021.

After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy in February 2022, he reported to California State Prison-Solano.

In March 2023, Cook transferred San Quentin Rehabilitation Center where he remained until his passing.

“He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time,” according to an SQRC statement.

Viewing is at noon, Friday, Feb. 13, at Most Holy Rosary Chapel at St. Vincent School for Boys, 1 Saint Vincent Drive, San Rafael. Mass begins at 1 p.m. with a CDCR Honor Guard ceremony after the mass.
