Lee Herron, a retired correctional lieutenant from California Health Care Facility, passed away March 25, 2026.

Herron began his distinguished career with the department in January 1998 as a cadet at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center. After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, he reported to the Correctional Training Facility at Soledad in mid-February.
Herron then transferred to the Northern California Women’s Facility in November 1999. Through dedication and hard work, he promoted to correctional sergeant in September 2002.
He then transferred to Mule Creek State Prison in Ione in March 2003 and a few months later, transferred to Vally State Prison in Chowchilla. In 2007, he promoted to correctional lieutenant.
Herron then transferred to California Health Care Facility in Stockton in in June 2013, where he spent the remainder of his career. He retired in May 2022.
“Please join us in expressing our condolences, thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Lee Herron,” the institution said.
