Weljan Estrella, a retired accountant trainee, passed away April 21, 2026. Estrella worked for the department for 18 years.
He began his career with CDCR at Kern Valley State Prison as an office assistant in August 2006.
Estrella then promoted to accountant clerk II in March 2008. He went on to promote two more times in the accounting office before retiring in January 2024 as an accountant trainee.
“Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family and loved ones. Weljan will be missed by his fellow co-workers and all who knew him. Weljan will be memorialized in the Philippines with his family,” reported Kern Valley State Prison.
