Curtis Hevener, a retired correctional officer, passed away May 6, 2026.
He began his career with the department in 1993, reporting to Avenal State Prison as a correctional officer.
Four years later, he transferred to the Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison (SATF) at Corcoran.
He spent the rest of his career at SATF, retiring in 2020.
“Curtis will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his wife, children, grandchild, extended family, friends, and former colleagues, who will carry forward the lessons of his life and the love he shared so freely. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Curtis’ family and friends during this difficult time,” according to SATF.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., May 29, at Pipeline Church, 11720 Avenue 264, Visalia.
