Ray Padilla, retired youth correctional lieutenant

Ray Padilla, a retired youth correctional lieutenant, passed away July 16, 2026. Services will be held Sept. 19 in Fontana.

He devoted more than three decades to public service.

According to his family, he passed away peacefully.

Padilla began his career with the department as a youth correctional officer in 1974. He rose to the rank of youth correctional lieutenant before retiring in 2007 from Heman G. Stark Youth Correctional Facility.

“He was respected by his colleagues and took great pride in serving his community. Above all, Ray was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather,” according to his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, two sons, three daughters, 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

“His love, guidance, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew him,” the family wrote.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ray Padilla’s life during a visitation from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 19 at Water of Life Community Church in Fontana.
