Folsom State Prison (FSP) held its inaugural promotional ceremony July 31 recognizing 34 employees who recently received promotions. Held near the historic East Gate, the event celebrated the dedication, professionalism and accomplishments of staff members across custody, health care and administrative roles.
The event began with the FSP Honor Guard presenting the colors, followed by Senior Psychologist Specialist Rachel Couzens singing the national anthem.

Family, friends attend first promotional ceremony
Acting Warden Rosalinda Rosalez then welcomed 83 family members and staff attendees to the gathering.
During the ceremony, each promoted employee was individually acknowledged and presented with an FSP challenge coin. Newly promoted custody staff also received their rank insignias, after which family, friends, and colleagues were invited to participate in the pinning ceremony for the newly promoted custody personnel.

During the ceremony, Warden Rosalez recognized the important role and sacrifice family members make for those that work at a correctional facility.
“To all the children in the audience, thank you for letting us borrow your mom or dad who work so hard. To all the spouses, significant others, parents, parents in law—thank you for always having their backs while they strive hard to establish themselves in their careers. This ceremony today is as much for them as it is for you who have made it possible. From the bottom of my heart, thank you,” said Warden Rosalez.
FSP congratulates all 34 employees recognized during the inaugural promotional ceremony and expresses appreciation for their ongoing dedication to CDCR. Their commitment to public service, leadership, and professionalism enhances the department’s mission of ensuring safety, rehabilitation and operational excellence, FSP wrote.
