Ramona Arquilla, retired correctional sergeant

Ramona Arquilla, a retired CDCR correctional sergeant, passed away June 17, 2026.

Ramona Arquilla, a retired correctional sergeant from Sierra Conservation Center in Jamestown, passed away June 17, 2026.

She began her career as a cadet at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center in April 1986. After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy the following month, she reported to Folsom State Prison.

Arquilla then promoted to correctional sergeant at the Correctional Training Facility at Soledad in December 1990.

A little less than four years later, she transferred to Sierra Conservation Center. She remained there until retiring in April 2006, capping a 20-year career.

“Arquilla enjoyed working, spending time with family and friends and was an excellent baker,” according to the institution. “She was a seamstress and quite crafty in many other things as well. She loved thrift store shopping and trips to the casino for her favorite penny machine and lunch with co-workers. Our deepest sympathy goes out to her family and loved ones. Arquilla is greatly missed by her fellow co-workers and all who knew her.”

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Sept. 18, at the memorial hall in Tuolumne.
