California Men’s Colony (CMC) Sergeant Stephen Hardman was recognized for his leadership, dedication and service during the annual Law Enforcement Awards Ceremony hosted by King David’s Lodge in San Luis Obispo on Tuesday, September 8.
The annual ceremony brings together law enforcement agencies from throughout San Luis Obispo County to recognize employees for their hard work and dedication to their agencies and communities. Each participating agency nominates an employee to receive the recognition, with recipients joined by their families for an evening that includes dinner, an awards presentation and certificates of recognition from the local State Assembly office.
CMC selected Hardman in recognition of his leadership and ability to build and motivate an effective team while working in a challenging correctional environment.
Lieutenant Raymond Siordia presented Hardman’s recognition and spoke about the impact of his leadership at CMC. Siordia highlighted Hardman’s dedication and his ability to foster a motivated team that remains focused on addressing violence, drugs and other illicit activity within the institution.
During his remarks, Siordia jokingly said he had coined the phrase, “There is no ‘I’ in team,” when describing Hardman’s approach to leadership. The lighthearted comment emphasized Hardman’s ability to bring staff together and create an environment where teamwork and shared responsibility have contributed to significant improvements on the facility.
CMC Warden (A) Nathan Gaughan and Chief Deputy Warden (A) Edward Brown attended the ceremony on behalf of CMC, joining Hardman and his family in celebrating the recognition.
King David’s Lodge hosts the ceremony annually as a way to recognize law enforcement professionals throughout the local community and acknowledge their service and contributions to public safety.
CMC congratulates Sergeant Stephen Hardman on this well-deserved recognition and thanks King David’s Lodge for continuing its tradition of recognizing local law enforcement professionals.
