David Batt, a retired correctional officer from Calipatria State Prison, passed away Aug. 30, 2026. Services have already been held.
Batt began his career with the department in June 1989 as a cadet at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center. After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, he reported to California Correctional Institution at Tehachapi in 1989.
He then transferred to Chuckawalla Valley State Prison in April 1990.
By the end of 1991, Batt transferred to Calipatria State Prison where he served the remainder of his career, retiring in June 2006.
“He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him,” according to Calipatria State Prison. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.”
Memorial services have already been held in Yuma, Arizona.
