Minimum‑Security Inmate Escapes from DVI

TRACY — California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) officials are looking for a minimum-security inmate who escaped from the minimum-support facility at Deuel Vocational Institution in Tracy on Saturday, September 8.

Inmate Brandon Valentin, 20, was last seen at 11:30 p.m. on Friday inside the minimum-support facility dormitory. On-duty staff immediately began searching the surrounding areas. Notification was immediately made to local law enforcement agencies and CDCR’s Office of Correctional Safety.

Valentin is 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighs 159 pounds and has brown eyes and black hair. He was received by CDCR from Los Angeles County on June 4, 2018 with a three-year sentence for unlawful sex with a victim under 18-years of age and first-degree burglary.

Anyone who sees Valentin should immediately contact law enforcement or call 911. Anyone knowing the location of Valentin or having other relevant information is asked to contact the Deuel Vocational Institution Watch Commander at (209) 835-4141, extension 3842.

Since 1977, 99 percent of all offenders who have left an adult institution, camp, or community-based program without permission have been apprehended.
