Less than 24 hours after being reported missing, authorities apprehended a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) inmate who escaped from the minimum-support facility at Deuel Vocational Institution in Tracy.
Inmate Brandon Valentin was taken into custody by CDCR’s Office of Correctional Safety (OCS) agents at approximately 5:15 p.m. this afternoon at a bus station in North Hollywood without incident. He is being transported to California Institution for Men.
Valentin, 20, was last seen at 11:30 p.m. on Friday, September 7 inside the minimum-support facility dormitory. He was received by CDCR from Los Angeles County on June 4, 2018 with a three-year sentence for unlawful sex with a victim under 18-years of age and first-degree burglary.
The OCS mission is to protect the public and serve CDCR investigative and security interests. OCS is the primary departmental link with allied law enforcement agencies and the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services.
Since 1977, 99 percent of all offenders who have left an adult institution, camp, or community-based program without permission have been apprehended.
