CDCR agents apprehend inmate who walked away from Francisquito Conservation Camp

SANTA CLARITA – An inmate who walked away from a conservation camp was apprehended this afternoon in Riverside.

At approximately 12:35 p.m., agents from CDCR’s Special Service Unit located Pete Vega in a motel on University Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident. He is being transported to California Institution for Men, and his case will be referred to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for possible prosecution.

Vega, 34, was discovered missing from Francisquito Conservation Camp at approximately 8:30 a.m. on May 10 during a routine inmate count. He was received by CDCR from Riverside County in June 2018 with an eight-year sentence for two counts of possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of a firearm by a felon and vehicle theft with prior vehicle-related theft convictions.
