SIFC Quarterly Meeting Minutes – January 2026

I. Enterprise Information Services (EIS)

Tablet Rollout Dates

  • The tablet rollout remains on schedule, with implementation expected to begin next week. However, rollout dates remain subject to change.
  • Facilities currently preparing for implementation include California Institution for Women (CIW) and Central California Women’s Facility (CCWF).
  • Updates and additional information will be posted in the FAQ section and on the public website.
  • Families are encouraged to ensure their accounts are active and updated prior to the rollout.
  • Any remaining balances from ViaPath subscriptions will be refunded to the incarcerated individual’s trust account.
  • The pricing structure will include both tiered plans and à la carte options.

Request:
A request was made to improve transparency for families by allowing trust account balances to be accessible on tablets.

Response:
At this time, trust account transparency will not be available through the tablet system.

II. ADA Collaboration and Training Team

  • ADA accommodation requests are processed using Form 1824. If necessary, individuals may also submit a CDCR 602 appeal.
  • Requests are reviewed by the ADA Coordinator through a panel review process.
  • Possible accommodations may include vision supports, hearing supports, and other reasonable disability accommodations.
  • Primary care physicians initiate orders for required medical equipment such as wheelchairs, crutches, and other assistive devices.
  • When equipment is available in stock, it may be issued the same day.
  • If the equipment is not available locally, it may be ordered through a medical warehouse.
  • Prescription processing may take approximately five days prior to procurement.
  • High-priority items may be expedited through vendors.
  • Some equipment may take up to 90 days to obtain, depending on supply availability, and certain specialty items may not be available.
