Task Statements:

1.  Performs data management functions (i.e. OBIS, OBITS, DDPS) for all CDCR staff to produce reliable information using application systems according to department policies, procedures, and processes.

2.  Drafts instructions for IT staff to document job processes and job setup instructions using word processing applications under the direction of the IT supervisor.

3.  Performs program librarian functions for IT staff to maintain and organize procedures and documentation, utilizing word processing and spreadsheet applications on tapes, CDs, and other formats, under the direction of the IT supervisor.

4.  Performs tests in support of systems analysis to record functionality of the system using system tools provided at the direction of the project team.

5.  Performs tests in support of systems programming to record functionality of the system program using system tools provided at the direction of the project team.

6.  Performs tests in support of systems machine operations to record functionality of the machine operations using system tools provided at the direction of the project team.

7.  Conducts on-the-job training for peers to standardize work processes utilizing the tools (i.e. punch down tools, crimpers), equipment, aids or processes designated by the IT supervisor.

8.  Monitors systems communication to ensure successful completion of job processes using network monitoring applications under the direction of the IT supervisor.

9.  Responds to user requests providing help desk support on a regular basis to document and follow up on requests using the Remedy application or other call logging tools under the direction of the IT supervisor.

10.  Operates information technology system components and peripheral equipment for CDCR staff running processes and reports using system tools under the direction of IT supervisor.

11.  Arranges maintenance, repair, and replacement of computer and peripheral equipment for CDCR staff using internet, phone, and the Remedy application under the direction of the IT supervisor.

12.  Assists with classroom instruction for the education of system users, utilizing overhead projector, PowerPoint, laptop, word processing tools, under the direction of the IT supervisor.

13.  Prepares lesson guides and reviews the user’s progress for the purpose of educating the users, utilizing overhead projector, PowerPoint, laptop, word processing tools, under the direction of the IT supervisor.

14.  Performs user support to assist in methods of using the computer system to work more effectively and efficiently utilizing the standard Microsoft Office suite and other applications under the direction of the IT supervisor.

15.  Drafts procedures and standards for data acquisition to maintain valid information within the databases utilizing automated tools under the direction of the IT supervisor.

16.  Sets up job streams and utility programs to produce jobs and reports using the policies, procedures, and processes under the direction of EIS and the IT supervisor.

17.  Assists IT staff in the coordination of processing schedules and change management to business systems utilizing tools as directed by the project and/or program group.

18.  Installs software and software upgrades on computers to produce functional systems to meet the business need, utilizing installer software for the operating system, under the direction of the IT supervisor.

19.  Provides technical advice and general troubleshooting on computer systems for CDCR staff to produce functional systems using diagnostic software under the direction of the IT supervisor.

20.  Reviews system documentation in order to understand the scope of the system using documentation methods (i.e. user manual, programming language, system specifications) under the direction of the IT supervisor or the project team.

21.  Reviews and test new or existing applications to produce reports on functionality of the application, using the application under the direction of the IT supervisor or the project team.

22.  Drafts simple instructions for using and operating a program, for CDCR staff using word processing applications, under the direction of the IT supervisor.

23.  Provides input to IT supervisor to assist with resolving a system maintenance problem by using the program library, under the direction of the IT supervisor.

24.  Refers CDCR staff to training materials for computer systems to produce knowledgeable staff using shared resources (i.e. Intranet, Internet, shared server, CD), under the direction of the IT supervisor.
