Task Statements:

1. Monitor staff in conducting security audits (e.g., escape prevention plan, key/tool control, inmate count, etc.) to identify security deficiencies, using security audit tools and Corrective Action Plans (CAP) per departmental policies and procedures, as required.

2. Oversee staff in implementing corrective measures to maintain the safety and security of the institution/public, using security audit tools, visual/physical inspections, and CAP, per departmental policies and procedures, as required.

3. Oversee staff responsible for receiving, screening, and releasing inmates (e.g., new commitments, Parolees, Parole violators, etc.) to provide appropriate housing, maintain the safety and security of the institution, prevent early releases, etc., using authorized records/documents (e.g., Abstract of Judgement, Fingerprint Cards, etc.), and electronic files, per California Penal Code (PC), Court Mandates (i.e., Clark, Coleman, Plata, Armstrong, Safekeeper Agreement, etc.), and departmental policies and procedures, as required.

42. Oversee custody staff in the investigation of institution-related crimes (e.g., murder, distribution of controlled substance, Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA), etc.), to maintain the safety and security of the institution using Penal Code (PC) and departmental policies and procedures, as required.

43. Oversee and coordinate the endorsement/movement of inmates (e.g. Reception Center, County Jail, institutions, etc.) throughout the department to efficiently relocate inmates, using the department’s transportation system, per departmental policies and procedures, as needed.

44. Supervise staff in the preparation of inmate transfer schedules and routings for the most economical and effective transfer of inmates between locations, using approved methods to maintain the safety and security of staff, inmates, public and prevent escape, per departmental policies and procedures, as required.

53. Manage the timely execution of major statewide programs to enhance and update rehabilitation programs, department policies and procedures using knowledge of applicable laws and policies (e.g., proposition 57, AB109, etc.), under the direction of the Secretary.

55. Conduct periodic onsite reviews of all facilities and parole regions for compliance with laws, rules, regulations, using knowledge and experience, in the interpretation of departmental policies and procedures, as needed.

56. Assist the Division head in planning and organizing programs to maintain continuity of daily operations, using departmental policies and procedures, as required.
