Time Off Requests Related to COVID‑19

The information below pertaining to frequently asked questions pertaining to CDCR and CCHCS employee time off requests related to COVID-19:

EMPLOYEES DEEMED ESSENTIAL

Currently, all available leave credits are permitted. If leave credits are exhausted, COVID-19 emergency ATO can be requested. Once the employee receives COVID-19 test results, the leave may be changed to ATO if they are diagnosed with COVID 19.

  • 65 over older: May use leave credits, ATO is not provided. If leave credits are exhausted, COVID-19 emergency ATO can be requested.
  • Chronic health condition: May use leave credits, ATO is not provided. If leave credits are exhausted, COVID-19 emergency ATO can be requested.
  • Not 1 or 2: May use leave credits, ATO is not provided. If leave credits are exhausted, COVID-19 emergency ATO can be requested.

EMPLOYEES DEEMED NON-ESSENTIAL

Currently, all available leave credits are permitted. If leave credits are exhausted, COVID-19 emergency ATO can be requested. Once the employee receives COVID-19 test results, the leave may be changed to ATO if they are diagnosed with COVID 19.

  • 65 over older: ATO is permitted.
  • Chronic health condition: Employee should provide a note from their primary health care provider noting the restrictions or limitations resulting from the chronic health condition so the RTWC and Supervisor can assess telework options. If telework is not available, ATO is permitted but must be assessed on a continuous basis.
  • Not 1 or 2: May use leave credits, ATO is not provided. If leave credits are exhausted, COVID-19 emergency ATO can be requested. Non-essential staff maybe redirected to perform essential duties.

ESSENTIAL OR NON-ESSENTIAL:

ATO is never permitted for school closures.
